Wrenbridge Sport is a specialist business established by award winning property developers, Wrenbridge to focus on the sport and leisure related sector.
The venture is led by Richard Arnold, who has considerable experience in the development and delivery of stadia, arenas and sports buildings. Richard has a successful track record in the management of large and complex sports venue projects from inception to completion delivering to tight budgets and exacting timescales, including the integration of these facilities into a wider masterplan.
Richard joined Wrenbridge on the back of the incredible London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games where as part of the Olympic Delivery Authority he was responsible for a number of the new venues including the award winning Velodrome. Wrenbridge Sport brings together the existing property development expertise at Wrenbridge with Richard’s delivery experience with sport facilities.
Richard works with Jessica Gavaghan who also worked on the London 2012 Olympics.
Sports facilities are the focal point for local communities and can be an important venue for the wider population. The improvement of commercial, corporate and sporting amenities at sports venues is a fundamental consideration for most clients and the maximisation of the property and land assets can provide future income streams or a one-off capital receipt to help organisations grow. As a company Wrenbridge has considerable experience in working with land owners across sectors to enhance the value of their property assets by realising the land’s maximum commercial, residential and retail development potential.
Whilst every development is tailored to suit the needs of the land owner, with sports projects Wrenbridge has typically undertaken successful joint venture partnerships providing the venue owner with 100% of the land value and a percentage of the resulting profit or income.
We are specialists in providing funding solutions for both the private and public sectors. Wrenbridge Sport is part-owned and financially backed by Palmer Capital, who manage funds with a combined value of £850m. This is also one of our greatest assets as it enables us to have the ability to provide development funding internally.
Approximately 50% of our assets at any one time are purchased through the internal funds raised by Palmer Capital with the remaining projects financed by Wrenbridge’s own equity and a variety of other partners including Grosvenor, Buccleuch, Legal and General, M&G, Savills Investment Management, and LaSalle Investment Management.
Wrenbridge Sport has the experience and expertise in the project management of all types of stadia and sports facilities from football stadiums to velodromes, sailing marinas to white water centres. We are able to provide independent consultancy and can work with clients to deliver their ambitions. We understand not only the sporting requirements but also what else goes in to creating a fantastic and sustainable venue that delivers wide ranging community facilities as well as generating valuable commercial income.
As project manager typically our role will commence at the outset of the project with the initial feasibility study and development of the brief. We then manage the design through the work stages including the planning process followed by the appointment of a contractor and overseeing the construction works through to successful completion.
