The Grafton centre reveals new restaurant and retail hubs
Cambridge’s two premier shopping destinations have clashed about the future of retail in the city after one revealed more about its ambitious expansion plans.
The News can unveil today further details about proposed major new restaurant and retail hubs near The Grafton centre.
New owners Legal & General are bidding to overhaul Abbeygate House, currently home to the British Heart Foundation on East Road, with a new series of retail units, restaurants, offices and student accommodation.
And it has even bigger ambitions for land north of Fitzroy Street, near Eden Baptist Church and stretching onto the existing Grafton West car park.
This area would be transformed into a new cluster of retail units and restaurants, as well as providing some new homes.
